WORKING – PLANNING MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TAMPICO

November 26, 2013, 6:30 PM
202 W. Second Street
(Former Tampico Grade School Building)

Mayor Kristine L. Hill and Commissioners Toby Johnson, Bruce Hill, Mary Jo Sigel and Derrick Maupin met at the former Tampico Grade School building at 6:30 Pm to discuss their plans for the repurposing of the facility.

The Village Council was taken on a tour of the room set aside for the Tiger Club After School Program. Administrator, Mary Wendland, has the room ready for children enrolled in the after school program. Council members were very pleased at the progress Wendland has made in such a short time. The after school program will begin in their new home on December 2, 2013. It is the council’s understanding, the PLT school district will provide bus transportation to the new location for the students enrolled in the program.

Mayor Hill told those present Tampico Township and the Tampico American Legion have already moved into the building as well.

Council members then went from room to room discussing possibilities for using the structure to its best advantage. Possibilites include a summer children’s program as a continuation of the after school program.

The council agreed to concentrate on getting the Village Clerk and the Village Utilities Clerk offices redone for their move to the building as well as space for the Tampico Police Department and the council’s meeting room. The council set a tentative moving date as right before their second meeting in January.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM. The next regular meeting of the Tampico Village Council will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 7:00 PM in Tampico Village Hall. This will be the only meeting in December.
