Energy Scam

October 28, 2013

Village of Tampico Residents:

The Village of Tampico has been contacted by Rock River Energy Services, Company to advise of a scam circulating in several states involving past due balances on utility bills.

Scammers are calling people and telling them they have a past due balance with ComEd or other area energy provider. They will then ask for the customer’s banking and financial information and have the customer pay over the phone when in fact they have no balance.

The Village of Tampico would like to warn residents to never share any financial information over the phone. If residents do receive this type of phone call, we encourage them to hang up and contact ComEd or their area energy provider to confirm any of their account details.

Residents may also call Village Hall at 815-438-2505.
