REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TAMPICO
April 15, 2025, 7:00 PM

Mayor Bruce Peltier called the Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council to order at 7:00PM.

Commissioners Susan Dean and Jim Coleman were present. Commissioner Sherry Coleman and Tammy Kendell were absent. Chief Strike and Village Superintendent, Tyler Chriest, were also present. Village Clerk, Jamie McIntire, was present and recorded the written and audio minutes.

Mayor Peltier led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes of the April 1, 2025 Regular Meeting were approved as presented.

On a motion made by Commissioner Dean, second by Commissioner J. Coleman, a renewal for Class E Liquor License No. 100-50 was approved for Casey’s Retail Company, DBA Casey’s General Store #1304, 201 S. Main St., from May 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025 for a fee of $600.00. “Yes” votes were Dean, J. Coleman and Mayor Peltier. The motion carried. The $600.00 fee was paid.

After review of a renewal liquor license application from the Kickback Saloon CO., Nels Miller, Commissioner J. Coleman motioned, second by Commissioner Dean, that a Class A Liquor License No. 100-53 for the Kickback Saloon CO., 102 N. Main Street, be approved from May 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025. The fee of $400.00 was paid. “Yes” votes were Dean, J. Coleman and Mayor Peltier. The motion carried.

Commissioner J. Coleman motioned, Commissioner Dean second, that a Mechanical Amusement Device License No. T-108, for the Kickback Saloon CO., (Nels Miller), 102 N. Main Street, to operate certain amusement devices from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. The fee of $50.00 has been paid. “Yes” votes were Dean, J. Coleman and Mayor Peltier. The motion carried.

After review of a renewal liquor license application from the Break Room Pub N Grub, Jared and Shayann Strader, Commissioner Dean motioned, second by Commissioner J. Coleman, that a Class A Liquor License No. 100-51 for the Break Room Pub N Grub, LLC, (Jared and Shayann Strader), 122 S. Main Street, be approved from May 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025. The fee of $400.00 was paid. “Yes” votes were Dean, J. Coleman and Mayor Peltier. The motion carried.

Commissioner Dean motioned, Commissioner J. Coleman second, that a Mechanical Amusement Device License No. T-107, for the Break Room Pub N Grub, LLC, (Jared and Shayann Strader), 122 S. Main Street, to operate certain amusement devices from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. The fee of $50.00 has been paid. “Yes” votes were Dean, J. Coleman and Mayor Peltier. The motion carried.

Reports of Village Officials
There were no reports from Village Officials at this time.

Remarks from Guests
Village resident, Beverly Adamson, and Shane Schueler were on the agenda to speak to the Council about building plans, but they did not show up to the meeting.

Unfinished Business
First under unfinished business was to discuss leasing Village owned lot next to Tampico Township building to the Tampico Township. There were no updates on this topic, so it was tabled until the next meeting.

Next on the agenda was to discuss a donation to the Tampico Township for a digital video billboard. There was no updated information on this topic, so it was also tabled until the next meeting.

New Business
A motion was made by Commissioner J. Coleman, second by Commissioner Dean, to approve closing the Tampico Festival Checking Account and turning those funds over to the Elevate Tampico Committee. “Yes” votes were Dean, J. Coleman and Mayor Peltier. The motion carried. Tara Walters with the Elevate Tampico Committee was present to receive the check. She thanked the Village for all the help they’ve received over the years and said it’s been a struggle to get their own account up and going. Clerk McIntire said the Village thanks the Committee for their hard work with keeping the Tampico Days event alive. It’s a great event for our town.

Building Permits
There were no building permits to approve at this time.

Communications
There were no communications to share at this time.

Bills were ordered paid on a motion by Commissioner Dean, second by Commissioner J. Coleman. “Yes” votes were Dean, J. Coleman and Mayor Peltier. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 7:09 PM. The next Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council is Scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 7:00 PM in the Reagan Community Center located at 202 W. Second Street.
