Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Village of Tampico
Acting Mayor Susan Dean called the Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council to order at 7:00 PM.
Mayor Bruce Peltier was absent. Village Clerk Jamie McIntire was present and recorded the written and audio minutes.
Commissioner Dean led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Minutes of the May 5, 2026 Regular Meeting were approved as presented.
Reports of Village Officials
There were no reports from Village Officials at this time.
Motion: Commissioner S. Coleman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Kendell, to approve a fence permit for 209 N. Fremont St. — David Little.
Vote: “Yes” votes were S. Coleman, Dean, J. Coleman and Kendell. The motion carried.
Clerk McIntire advised that one additional fence permit had been turned into the office that day and was not on the meeting agenda. She asked if the Council would like to move forward with a vote or place it on the next meeting agenda. The Council chose to review it and vote.
Motion: Commissioner J. Coleman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Kendell, to approve a fence permit for 205 N. Lincoln St. — Sharron Sumner.
Vote: “Yes” votes were S. Coleman, Dean, J. Coleman and Kendell. The motion carried.
Remarks from Guests
There were no remarks from guests at this time.
Unfinished Business
The item to review and discuss the process to sell Village-owned real estate was tabled until the Mayor and Superintendent could be present with updates.
New Business
Motion: Commissioner Kendell made a motion, seconded by Commissioner J. Coleman, to approve the cancellation of the June 2, 2026 Regular Village Meeting.
Vote: “Yes” votes were S. Coleman, Dean, J. Coleman and Kendell. The motion carried.
The next Regular Village Meeting will be held June 16, 2026 at 7:00 PM.
Motion: Commissioner J. Coleman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Kendell, to approve a Resolution to Close Route 172 (Main Street) for the Tampico Days Event and activities beginning at 9:00 AM Friday, July 17, 2026 and ending at 6:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2026.
Vote: “Yes” votes were S. Coleman, Dean, J. Coleman and Kendell. The motion carried.
Building Permits
Building permits approved by Zoning Administrator Tyler Chriest were 212 S. Benton St. — Replace Shingles and 206 N. Fremont St. — Solar Installation.
May 19, 2026 Regular Meeting Minutes — Tampico Village Council, continued.
Communications
Clerk McIntire advised that she reached out to Dan Pepin with Community Funding & Planning Services regarding the DCEO grant to replace the sidewalk to the school and repair the front of the post office. The Village submitted the signed documents for the grant agreement, which were received on May 4. The Village must now wait to receive the final copy of the grant agreement and will be assigned a grant manager to assist with reporting and payment. Pepin said this could take several weeks, but hopefully it will be soon. Before the Village can move forward, the fully executed grant agreement must be received from DCEO.
Motion: Bills were ordered paid on a motion by Commissioner Kendell, seconded by Commissioner J. Coleman.
Vote: “Yes” votes were S. Coleman, Dean, J. Coleman and Kendell. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 7:09 PM. The next Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 7:00 PM in the Reagan Community Center located at 202 W. Second Street.
