REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TAMPICO – January 3, 2017

REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TAMPICO

January 3, 2017

Reagan Community Center

Mayor Kristine L. Hill called the Regular Meeting of the Tampico Village Council to order at 7:00 PM.

Commissioners Derrick Maupin, Bruce Hill, Scott Meier and Phalen Vancil were present. Police Chief Terry Strike was in attendance and Village Clerk, Kathy Leathers recorded the written and audio minutes. The meeting was also video recorded.

Mayor Hill led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes of the December 20, 2016 Regular Meeting were approved as presented.

Reports of Village Officials
There were no reports for village officials.

Remarks from Guests
Village resident Al Morthland asked if it’s necessary to live in town to have a liquor license. Mayor Hill replied not if you’re a corporation. Morthland was asking about the Old Town Pub-N-Grub closing. Mayor Hill said they aren’t technically closed. It was being managed by the Lances, but they’re stepping back so Julie Stees will manage it again, as well as own it.

Unfinished Business
The council learned that there are no new updates regarding the Water Main Replacement Project. Mayor Hill mentioned seeing bench marks and survey tags around town, so some progress is being made.

New Business
Mayor Hill turned the discussion to review and discuss the 2017 Project Plans. She told the council when filling out the budgets, fill out what you want to be seen done in their departments. That way we can see if it’s feasible, and also get it scheduled and planned.

Mayor Hill then turned the discussion to the Budget Worksheets. Mayor Hill asked the council to be mindful of what projects are wanted to be put in, and the cost of living improvements and percentages. When planning a government budget, we must plan ahead and anticipate the worst, or we could lose funds and get behind when it comes to justifying a tax levy or something similar. If any help is needed, get a hold of Clerk Leathers or Mayor Hill.

There were no building permits to approve at this time.

Communications
There were no communications to discuss at this time.

Bills were ordered paid on a motion by Commissioner Maupin and seconded by Commissioner Vancil. “Yes” votes were Maupin, Hill, Meier, Vancil and Mayor Hill.
The motion carried.

Commissioner Maupin wanted to inform the council that he and Clerk Leathers are in the process of working on the health insurance for the village employees. Once it’s figured out, it will be submitted to the meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 7:06 PM. The next regular meeting of the Tampico Village Council will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the Reagan Community Center located at 202 W. Second Street.
